http://www.thenation.com/article/genocide-darfur

This is an article by thenation.com that talks about the genocide is Darfur, to raise awareness to the world. They talk about how no one understands why after the tragic genocide in Rwanda the United States and everywhere else is just sitting back and letting this happen again. The article gives background information on Darfur, Sudan. It talks about how Darfur is in a terrible state and ways that it can be stopped. It talks about how the United Nations might intervene and same with the United States, but nothing is final yet. This could potentially become worse than the genocide in Rwanda if these people do not get help. There are many complications on why other countries and the UN have not gotten involved yet, but this is not a good enough excuse when one million people have died already in Darfur in 2004 when this article was first released. Complications from the genocide are still affecting Darfuri's today and they still need help from other nations just to get the basic ingredients to survive. Members of the United Nations are planned to meet soon to decide what to do and if they should send troops in or not.

  1. Great job on your blog Faith! It's very informative and looks good. I think that is it very imporatnt for awareness in Darfur to be widespread. People all over the world should know about what's going on in Darfur. They should know so it can be stopped from happening in the future because even though we keep saying it won't happen, genocides continue to occur.

  2. You have done a great job showing the tragedies of Darfur and how this should not be happening again after the Rwanda genocide. I completely agree that there is no excuse for this type of thing to still be happening, and that it may get worse if nothing is done to stop it. I think that it should be a no brainer for the US and UN to send in troops, and also that this is just going to go on forever until an outside nation intervened. The Darfuri's need us to survive and help them stop their enemies from killing more people.
